As a Directing and Dramaturgy (DnD) Apprentice at Portland Stage Company I, along with two other DnD apprentices, was a part of a LORT Theatre’s Literary Department. In that department, we were tasked with reading and evaluating plays. Another of our responsibilities was to read and advise on all plays that would be discussed at Artistic Committee meetings. We were also tasked with writing for PlayNotes. PlayNotes is Portland Stage’s additional resource guide and we would usually write two to three articles per production.

As a DnD, we were each assigned two shows. Each apprentice received one new play and one produced play. My two shows were Dirty Deeds Downeast written by Brent Askari and directed by Skip Greer and Our Town written by Thornton Wilder and directed by Todd Brian Backus. I served as the assistant director and dramaturg during both productions.

We also served as crew for two shows. I crewed A Christmas Carol and Lend Me A Tenor.
